Re: [scrum-brasil] Re: Ken cria uma nova comunidade..
Guys, the SA is a non-profit organization. Jim Cundiff spend a year to migrate the SA from a for profit to a non profit organization. It is registred, accepted by US laws and thats it.
the SA is not allowed to make profit and it does not do it.
the SA has a mission, to transform the world of work, by enabling people to do so.
Jim was very clear in this during the last 18 month.
And .. the SA tried it best to develop a clear strategy to build communities around the world.
The business issue in all of this has nothing to do with the SA. The SA was only the body who received the right to say, yes we recognize you as a CSM after attending a class given by one of the people we trust = CSTs.
The business issue is the market. Scrum is open source, like Linux, like firefox, like a lot of other things, and what happens there happened with Scrum. Companies who believe that an open source product needs support offer this support. I am one of this support people.
People can use Scrum for free, andif they want help, the can call me. If they want to be recognized by the SA, they can call me. I charge my time, my knowledge like any doctor, any attorny. The law is also free. Support in using the law, not.
As people want help, and others can offer help, this creates a market. and this is business. and now the laws of the market place starts to apply, and here everybody who wants to swim in this pool needs to learn to swim, some are good in this, others not.

Rodrigo,
as Scrum Alliance defines itself as a nonprofit organization, it really should be a nonprofit organization. But this has nothing to do with being compatible with Agile values.
But that's not my point: people who spread, train and coach Scrum should not earn from that? I don't think so.

Rafael,
What happened to the "nonprofit" part of "The Scrum Alliance is a
nonprofit organization committed to delivering articles, resources,
courses, and events that will help Scrum users be successful." ???

I truly admire Boris' sincerity about this, but if it is a business it
can't be non-profitable.... that's my point, just remove that
nonprofit part. Like I said, I will not discuss about the
certification...
Boris, nothing personal on this. I took your course and I liked it.
We're discussing ideas. That's all..
