Just looking quickly at images of Whiting 1, I note that the bright field star on the south side has photometry of V=15.5. When you go to the field visually,

In reviewing the latest list of globular clusters, http://www.seds.org/~spider/spider/MWGC/Add/gc_dis.html, it appears only 2 of the newer ones are visual
